i loved the way you wrote susan, and i agree with snacky - my favorite bit was definitely susan's conversation about punishment with aslan. it was so heartwrenching and perfect and such an aslan thing to say.
i always wanted more justice for susan, the way c.s. lewis wrote her, and i love how you delved into her story and addressed that aspect of "punishment" so beautifully. it's so much easier to distance yourself than it is to face the truth, and i always felt that was why susan pretended narnia was just a fantasy in their heads, the way it was described in the books. which is why the ending of the last battle always seemed so cruel to me, like she had to learn from that error, that it was a punishment. here, it wasn't like aslan was taking "the faithful" back to narnia. it really was just that - an accident. and i like how you turned her being the only surviving member of her family into something positive. really, really stunning storytelling. thank you so much for sharing this.
