Narnia Christmas Card Exchange
Hello everyone! It's time to sign up for the Second Annual Narnia Christmas Card Exchange! For those of you who weren't around last year, this exchange is similar to the Narnia Fic Exchange, but with a couple of major differences.
1) The "Christmas cards" are drabbles! This means that you will write a mini-fic of exactly 100 words. This is a very different challenge to writing full-length fic. Part of the fun is trying to choose your wording precisely so that your final product is 100 words, not 99 or 101! Remember, the idea is that your drabble could fit inside a Christmas card.
2) For this exchange, the author’s name will appear on the "card" when it is first posted, rather than waiting until the end for a reveal. The reason is that it is going to run over a much shorter time period than the NFE, and the entries will be much shorter.
As with the NFE, participants will sign up stating what areas of the fandom and genres of fic they are most comfortable with writing, as well as a brief description of what they would like to receive. The mods will then pair everyone up, and send out the prompts to each author. Then you all go off and write a 100 word drabble based on the request. The best part is that the low word count means those of you writing Big Bang fics can still participate -- it might even be a welcome distraction! The signup post is here.
Rules
The rules for the Christmas Card Exchange are simple! Simply signup here with your request and what you prefer to write. We will then do our best to pair you with a matching request. You then write a drabble based on that request and send it back to us. We will then post the drabbles in the days leading up to Christmas.
FAQ
How long should the "Christmas card" be?
Exactly 100 words -- no more, no less!
Is there a limit on what I can request?
The only restriction is Real Person Fic (RPF), which is not permitted. However, any genre, pairing, character is fair game. AUs, slash, het, bookverse, movieverse, crossovers, etc. are all accepted! Just keep in mind that such a small word count won’t lend itself to anything plotty.
Is there a rating limit?
Technically no! With only 100 words to work with, we’re expecting that drabbles won’t reach the ‘Adult’ rating, but if you manage something that explicit in so few words, we’ll be well impressed!
When are submissions due?
Drabbles will be due on Sunday, December 16th. This gives you approximately a week from the close of signups to write your drabbles. This should be plenty of time to write 100 words!
What should I include with my submission?
Drabbles should be proofread for spelling errors and HTML tagged if you have used any italics, line breaks, etc. If you need help with HTML tagging, just let the mods know! We will be happy to help you out. Please include the following information when you submit your drabble.
Title (if any):
Author:
Rating:
Word Count:
Warnings:
Please email your drabble to narniaficexchange@gmail.com as an attachment in .doc or .txt format.
When will the "cards" be posted?
The Christmas "cards" will be posted in batches in the week before Christmas Day! The number of drabbles posted each day will depend on the number of participants.
Does my drabble/request have to be Christmas themed?
Absolutely not! Drabbles/requests may be about anything Narnia related. However, if you would like to request and/or write something Christmassy, you are free to do so.
