Hi everyone!

Just letting you know we're starting Madness a little early. FOR REASONS (mostly due to my convenience *g*).

Anyway, all the prompts can be found here. Feel free to pick one or many, and write treats, which you will then upload to the Madness Collection.

Remember you don't have to participate in Madness if you don't want to! It's not mandatory. By the same token, you don't have to be signed up for the NFE to participate in Madness! You can pick a prompt (as many as you want!) and upload at any time before September 11th -- there's no length requirement, and the only things I ask is that you don't go against the prompter's DNWs, and you don't publish the story anywhere else until after the reveals.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in comments, or shoot me an email: narniaficexchange@gmail.com. And definitely spread the word! If you think there's anyone who might be interested in writing a Narnia fic, tell them to join in! :D

Okay, folks, the poll results were in favor of opening up the requests, and giving people a longer time to write treats.

Here's the revised schedule:

NFE 2015 Schedule:

Tag nominations open: June 9th
Signups open: June 24th
Signups close: July 6th
Assignments sent out: by July 12th

Fics due: anytime before August 23rd
Prompts Revealed/Madness: July 18th - August 30th
Collections opens: August 30th
Authors revealed: September 6th

Please remember these things:

People can chose a prompt to write in addition to their assignment. That's important: even if you choose another prompt (or multiple prompts) to treat, you still have to complete your assignment by the due date.

You don't have to participate. Madness and treats are never mandatory.

You don't have to be a participant in the regular exchange to write treats. You'll be writing a treat, but not receiving one.

People can write as many treats as they'd like, and multiple people could write the same prompts.

You can post any treats to the NFE Madness Collection. You'll still have that extra week to write, after all the stories are due, too, and both collections will be revealed on August 30th, and authors revealed on September 6th.

The prompts have all been revealed, and you can find them here! Any treats you write for these prompts should be posted here, in the Madness Collection.

If any of the links aren't working, or you have any questions, feel free to comment here, or to email me at narniaficexchage@gmail.com! Thanks for voting and participating in the NFE, and have fun writing your treats! :D

Hey folks! I had a couple of people suggest that instead of waiting for the week between the fic due date and reveals, I could open the prompts now and give people extra time to write treats.

This would mean that you'd have a longer time to write treats than just a Madness week. So it would work out for people who aren't fast writers (I count myself among those!) or people who didn't sign up for the exchange, but would still like to participate.

I envision it like this:

I would reveal all prompts ASAP, people could chose a prompt to write in addition to their assignment. That's important: even if you choose another prompt (or multiple prompts) to treat, you still have to complete your assignment by the due date.

You don't have to participate. Madness and treats are never mandatory.

You don't have to be a participant in the regular exchange to write treats. You'd be writing a treat, but not receiving one.

People could write as many treats as they'd like, and multiple people could write the same prompts.

You could post any treats to the NFE Madness Collection. You'd still have that extra week to write, after all the stories are due, too, and both collections will be revealed on August 30th.

Thanks for voting! If you don't have an LJ account to vote with, you can comment and I'll take that into consideration!

Hey folks, I'm going to do the author reveals and open the the Madness collection at 4 p.m. EST today. So if you're still working on any madness fics, you've got a little time!

Thanks again for a great exchange. See you next year!

Hello everyone! We've got some pinch-hitting going on, but hopefully all will be in by Saturday, so the stories can be revealed on Sunday. If not, we'll wait until everyone has a story before going live.

In the meantime, there's Madness while you are waiting! Here's this year's Madness Collection. You can read the rules there. Basically, all you have to do is pick a prompt (or multiple prompts) from here, and then write a fic (as many as you want)! There are no length requirements, this is just fun writing and extra gifts for people.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] moriwen1 who nudged me that I didn't actually have the prompts revealed. SIGH. Sorry about that. Thanks to all the pinch-hitters, and thanks to everyone who got their stories in on time!

Yes, that's right, the deadline has come. All stories must be turned in today, September 20th. I am not worried about timezones - if it's still September 20th when you upload your story, wherever you are, it's fine.

Basically, it just has to be posted to the collection when I wake up tomorrow (and okay, for timezone people, that's 8:00 a.m. EST, so you can do the math *g*).

If you are not going to be able to complete your story, you need to let me know today! If I don't hear from you, the story will go out to the pinch-hit list. There is no penalty for dropping out, as long as you let me know. If you drop out without a word, you may be banned from participating in future exchanges. Default on AO3 or email me at narniaficexchange@gmail.com if you will not be submitting a story today.

Also: while I guarantee that there will be a story for everyone who turned in a story, I do not guarantee that there will be a story for everyone who signed up. So if you signed up, dropped out and did not submit a story, and then your writer also dropped out, I will not send that prompt to the pinch-hitters. The priority is for all people who turned in a story to receive a story. I just want that to be clear, because it always happens at least once or twice in a round.

Madness Round Info

Tomorrow I will be revealing all the prompts on AO3. You can then pick one or many to write! More than one person can pick the same prompt. There will be a second collection on AO3 call NFE Madness 2014. I will link it here tomorrow, so you will know where to upload any madness stories you might write.

These stories will not have any length or beta requirements. They just have to be uploaded before the next Saturday, when I will be opening both the main and the madness collections.

There are sure to be pinch-hits needed, so please watch the comm and your inboxes for pinch-hitting requests.

Good luck with all the last minute editing! And to everyone who has already submitted their stories: you rock! :D

Hi folks! Just a check-in post to see how everything is going! A few things:

* Reminder that you must upload your fic to A03 by Saturday, September 13th (and thank you to those who have done so already!). Your fic must be complete when you upload it. No placeholders, nothing less than 1000 words.

* If you need a beta, or would like to help someone out, check out our beta post!

* If you would like to sign up to be a pinch-hitter, in case someone drops out, check out our pinch-hitter post!

* If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to comment here, or email to narniaficexchange@gmail.com

Also, let's talk Madness! There will be a week between the deadline and the reveals, and during this period we can have a Madness Round, if there's interest. I will open up the prompts, and you can choose to write one, or as many as you want. There will be no required length, and anyone can participate.

[Poll #1980176]

Thank you!

It's open, right here!

This story is a gift for [livejournal.com profile] tonzura123, who didn't have an AO3 account.

In a week, I'll reveal the writers, but other than that, that's it for the NFE this year, friends. See you next spring!

Hey folks! I know you're hard at work on your Madness Stories, but I just wanted to give a few guidelines, since I know some people had questions.

1) You are uploading the story yourself to the AO3. If you do not have an AO3 account, let me know, and I will give you a code to create one. If you have never uploaded a story to a collection before, here is a tutorial that should be helpful.

2) You do not have to use the header that we used for the NFE stories here on LJ. Use the warnings on AO3 if necessary, and any additional tags that you think are appropriate (such as fandom, characters, and other freeform tags like "angst" or "fluff").

3) Please keep the prompt you are writing for attached to the story. You can post it in the Notes - I suggest at the end of the story, but if you prefer the beginning, that is fine too. No need to keep the "What I definitely don't want in my fic" section.

4) You can upload your finished stories any time before October 9th. October 9th is when the collection will open for reading/reviewing. If I've done everything right, the stories will not be available to read until Oct 9th. Let's hope! ;)

5) If you have an AO3 account, please reply to this comment to let the people writing for you know your AO3 name, so they can gift the fic to you.

6) Writers, if you have written a fic for someone who does not have an AO3 account, you can still upload it to the collection and gift it to Nfe_gremlin, and put in the notes who it is actually a gift for.

I think that should cover it! But if there's anything I've missed, or you have any other questions, ask here in the comments or email me at narniaficexchage@gmail.com

Narnia Fic Exchange 2013 Update:

Hey folks! We'll be done with the NFE 2013 tonight, when the last story is posted. Tomorrow I will post the masterlist of all the stories, with the authors' names attached.

It's been a great round this year and the stories have been fabulous! Please remember to leave feedback for the author of your story. I know everyone worked hard on their fics and will appreciate your thanks!

NFE Madness Update:

I was also going to open the community to Madness posting tomorrow, but due to a combination of factors, I am going to hold off on that for one more week, and Madness won't open until October 9th. So that means you get an extra week to work on your Madness stories! \o/ (and I get some time to attach the requesters' names to prompts!)

Also, there is another change to Madness and this is a big one: we will not be posting the stories here at the comm on LJ. Instead, you will be posting them to the Madness Collection on Ao3.

The major reason for this change:

It's in anticipation of moving the Narnia Fic Exchange to AO3 next year entirely. This will give people unfamiliar with the archive some practice in posting to it.

So that changes the rules a bit, as seen in this post here. The new rules are found on the Profile Page of the Collection on AO3 (as linked above) and behind this cut... )

If you don't have an account at AO3, you will need a code to create one. I have codes for people, so please either comment here, or send me an email, and I will send one to you. Remember, you will need an account to participate next year, so might as well create one now! :)

If you haven't posted to AO3 before, here is a tutorial that will help you post to a collection, like NFE Madness.

The one problem you might run into in posting is that you may have written a gift story for a person who doesn't have an AO3 account. I'm not sure how that will work in posting, but if it's a problem, you can gift Nfe_gremlin with the story, and use the Notes field to indicate the person the story really is for.

Hopefully that coves everything, but I might have left something out. If you have any questions, please comment here or email me at narniaficexchange@gmail.com!

ETA: If you sign up for an AO3 account, or already have one, reply to this comment with your AO3 username, so if someone writes you a story, they'll know who to gift it to.

Welcome to our First Madness Round! Since there was interest in doing this, we'll see how it goes, and if it's successful, we'll make it a regular part of the NFE.

Some basics:

1) It's not mandatory. Participation in the 2013 NFE does not require participation in the Madness Round. So no worries if you can't join in.

2) It's open to anyone. You don't have to be a 2013 NFE participant to join in the Madness Round. So please feel free to link to anyone you think might be interested!

3) All the prompts will be in this post. If you don't see your prompt here, email me and I will add it. In addition, if you signed up to pinch-hit, and would like to add your prompt to the list, email it to me and I will add it.

4) You can pick any and all prompts you want. Multiple people can pick the same prompt. There is no need to claim your prompts in the comments. This post will stay open through the round of story posting, so you can pick a prompt at any time. If you have already written a second story, or have another idea or two based on the prompt you received, that's fine too! You don't need to pick a new prompt.

5) The prompts are currently anonymous - this is because, as of right now, no one knows who they are writing for. However, as the submitted stories are posted, the prompter will be revealed. By the end of the posting round, all the prompts should have a name attached.

6) The posting round will end after all the submitted stories have been posted. When this is done, I will open the community so you can post the stories you have written for the Madness Round. There will be no order, and you can post whenever you like. You just have to join the community to post. HOWEVER if you don't have a Livejournal account, you can just email me the story and I will post it for you.

7) There is no mandatory length for Madness stories. It can be as long or as short as you'd like. There is no beta requirement. The only time frame is this: you will have a week to post your stories. After that week, the Madness Round will be over.

8) You are free to post your Madness stories anywhere you'd like, just as with the regular NFE stories. The only restriction is that they must be posted to the community first. If you don't finish your story in time to post it during the Madness Round, then you are free to post it wherever you'd like; I just ask that you keep the prompt and prompter's name attached.

Okay, that's all I can think of! But this is the first time we've done this, so I'm sure I've missed something. ;) If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments, or email me at narniaficexchange@gmail.com

This way to the prompts! )

Let the Madness begin! :D :D :D I always wanted to say that.
