THIS is why the NFE is so wonderful. It brings fresh voices and fresh views and makes all think, wow, why didn't I think of that? Yes, this is a small, narrow, slice, but it is utterly unique and brutally practical. I love the simple, day to day brutal practicalities of a woman of station and power brought down hard. The Narnians won't kill a baby, but they don't trust her and they don't want her too close, but they want her close enough. The stipend and the shipping her off is brutal, practical politics.
You succeed in making her, not sympathetic exactly, but understandable. We see how she is very much a product of her time, place and station and she is as brutally practical as the Narnians themselves are. This is a wonderful character piece and you succeed at it terrifically. Thank you so much for this.
