Author’s Notes: Title from "Siberia" by Lights. Ooodles of love to [redacted] for the beta, and [redacted] for the push ♥.

Details, details, you breathe in when I exhale )

Original Prompt that we sent you: I'd love a fic centered around either Peter/Susan and/or a friendship between Susan and Lucy— if you can manage both, that would be fantastic and I would love you forever and ever. I'd like it best if it spanned over the years, from their rule as Kings and Queens until Susan's eventual redemption, but I'll take anything where they're all reunited again gladly. (In the case of the Lucy+Susan friendship, I also don't mind it only being set in the Golden Age.)

Title: Into Telmar
Author: [livejournal.com profile] tantella (Avia Tantella Scott)
Recipient: [livejournal.com profile] bedlamsbard
Rating: K+
Possible Spoilers/Warnings: None
Summary: The origin of Telmar, as seen through the eyes of a particularly grumpy pirate suffering the effects of too little palm wine, as well as one of the first children.
Author's Notes: This was originally to be a short piece largely focused on pirates and palm wine, but the decision to add an epilogue prompted the whole story to run away from me. I hope you enjoy it! Elements in Part II are heavily borrowed from Avia Tantella Scott's "What the Elephants Forgot."

Into Telmar )

Original Prompt that we sent you:
I have a dream of seeing a noir-ish sort of mystery starring Maugrim and the Secret Police set during the Long Winter. :) Or anything about gray loyalties, where it's hard to tell the difference between the good guys and the bad guys -- during the Long Winter, the Telmarine period, whatever. Or something set during VotDT involving the merpeople and the Dawn Treader. Or historical crossovers -- did famous missing people or groups of missing people (Amelia Earhart, Roanoke Island, etc.) end up in Narnia/Archenland/Calormen/the expanded Narnian world? Just how confused were the first Telmarines when they showed up in proto-Telmar? I enjoy action, friendship, gen, plot, and snark. Alternately, go hog-wild and write something that really makes you happy. :)

Prompt words/objects/quotes/whatever: elephants, dragonfly in amber, this image/quote: http://flic.kr/p/9oGvGK, Yggdrasil, this image: http://www.redbubble.com/people/ceeveem/works/5528378-the-prophet-on-self-knowledge

Title: rise after a thousand years
Author: [livejournal.com profile] ilysia_039
Recipient: [livejournal.com profile] snacky
Rating: PG
Possible Spoilers/Warnings: Second person POV. You have been warned.
Summary: There is magic, after all, and then there is magic. One is Aslan’s sort; the other, Jadis’. Both are dangerous, both are subtle and twisting and embedded in the fabric of this world.

rise after a thousand years )

Original Prompt that we sent you:: I'd love some previously untold Narnian adventures - stories from the Golden Age, or stories from Caspian's reign, Caspian and Rilian bonding, sea voyages or other journeys out of Narnia. Maybe an unexplored island we didn't read about in VDT? What's up north besides the giants?

I'd love to read about a threat to Narnia that the Pevensies faced during their reign - perhaps another evil trying to infiltrate Narnia - and how they all worked together to stop it.

Ship-wise, I'd always love some Caspian/Peter, if you're so inclined. Maybe an AU where the Pevensies stay in Narnia after PC? Or an AU where Caspian finds his way into England for a while.

I love Susan best of all, so anything featuring her in a starring and completely awesome role would make me happy. I'd love to see her in Calormene, before everything went so wrong with Rabadash. Or a story about Susan as Queen interacting with the Narnians - what makes her the Gentle Queen?

Prompt words/objects/quotes/whatever:

1) I will rise
After a thousand years
lipping
flowers
And set my teeth in the silver of the moon
-- e.e. cummings

2) For whatever we lose(like a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in the sea
-- ee cummings

3) I woke up and one of us was crying.

Recipient: [livejournal.com profile] ceitfianna
Rating: PG13
Possible Spoilers/Warnings: no graphic sex or violence; some intimidation and distress. Many thanks to [redacted] for some invaluable beta-reading.
Summary: MovieVerse, sorry!; Tumnus suffers a freeze and a thaw.

The Temperate Faun )

Original Prompt that we sent you: Tumnus and Lucy friendship stuff, Tumnus during the Golden age, how does he fit into that world, what does he do? Or fill in time beforehand for him, how did he end up working for the White Witch? He's my favorite character and one that I always wish there was more of.

A second option that would make me happy is anything around The Magician's Nephew or The Horse and his Boy, different takes on Narnia from its first rulers and talking animals or from Archenland. I'm open to so many things as I love this world and would love to read anything in it. The kinds of stories I adore and that I write are missing moments, filling in the brief and powerful moments canon provides to see more of the world. I enjoy movie verse as well as book verse and would prefer if stories were within the general tone of the original canon. If you want to see a sense of what I've written myself, there's a link to my Ao3 account on my livejournal and following the fic tag will show what I've written.

Thank you so much for whatever is written for me. I'm in the midst of a terrifying job search and Narnia is an early and constant love for me.

Summary:you will remember / for we in our youth / did these things // yes many and beautiful things —Sappho 24A, trans. Anne Carson
Author’s notes: Many thanks to my beta, who also gave me the direction on how to approach this thing, though she probably doesn’t realize it.

Forgiveness )

Original Prompt that we sent you:

What I want: I never have anything in mind so let me tell you some things I like!

- I like girls more than boys! The women of Narnia interest me far more than the men. I also much prefer femslash (Lucy/Sea Girl for example!) to slash if you are so inclined
- I prefer bookverse to movieverse

Some things that interest me include:
-I like stories where Susan gets to move on and have a life after Narnia and after LB, and where she gets to be happy.
-I like stories about how Polly grew up and became very adventurous and traveled around the world learning about magic (or science, or anything else) and writing terribly silly letters home to Digory
-I like stories where characters have more magical adventures after Narnia, whether they like to admit to it or not.
-I am a fan of other characters who Don't Quite Understand, especially in a Susan/OC or Lucy/OC sense.
-On the Narnian side I am interested in journeys and in queens. I also find Lucy's relationship to Aslan to be very interesting and I subscribe to the Susan the Spymistress theory instead of the Edmund the Spymaster one.

the girl from beyond the world’s end )

Original Prompt that we sent you:
What I want: Jill/Rilian - Jill & Eustace don't leave Narnia at the end of Silver Chair (for whatever reason)

Summary: Have you ever wondered what Frank and Helen did on their first day as King and Queen of Narnia? A short story, told from Helen's POV.
Author's Notes: This story DOES have HTML tags.

The First Day )

Original Prompt that we sent you: The Customs and Habits of Marsh-Wiggles; growing up in hiding in Miraz’s Narnia; a pre-conquest Narnian monarch who was less than honorable / effective; Helen’s first day as queen; Bism; Ramandu after the Dawn Treader leaves with his daughter; anything from Charn or Calormen; backstories of any minor character.

Rating: G
Possible Spoilers/Warnings: none that I can think of
Summary: Cair Paravel is full of strangers that night, fine men in fine clothing who do not quite belong in these halls usually filled with Talking Beasts and dwarves and all sorts of other Narnians. [Takes place about a month or two after the Pevensies become Kings & Queens of Narnia.]
Author’s Notes: The title was taken from a line from Andrew Zawacki's Credo. This was originally going to feature King Lune and his wife, but the story got away from me. Still, I hope you're satisfied with this, mystery recipient!

The prompts I ended up using were: Lucy being inept at homemaking/sewing/cooking | "We are never deceived; we deceive ourselves" —Goethe | "In quietness and confidence shall be your strength."

the rapport between water and sand )

Original Prompt that we sent you: What I want: Any or all of:
- Lune/Susan
- Narnia before the Winter
- Telmarine Narnia before Miraz
- what was the "poor little kangaroo" doing in the Witch's house?
- Swanwhite's reign as a sort of pre-Golden-Age golden age
- Jadis playing off of the legend of Swanwhite to gain power
- courtly speech,
- British Schoolchildren being Awesome,
- Lucy and a dragon
- Lucy being inept at homemaking/sewing/cooking--perhaps using glue to hold up the hem of a dress.
- Susan and Corin
- Susan and Mrs. Lune
- Caspian and Ramandu's Daughter
- Marshwiggles.

Prompt words/objects/quotes/whatever: Any or all:
- magic, wonder, idyll, adventure, knights-errant, quiet love, feasts and hunts and dances,
- "She walks in beauty, like the night."
- "These are the generations. . . . "
- "Peace hath her victories / No less renowned than war," (Milton).
- "Peredur stood and likened the exceeding blackness of the raven, and the whiteness of the snow, and the redness of the blood, to the hair of the woman he loved best, which was black as jet, and her flesh to the whiteness of the snow, and the redness of the blood in the white snow to the two red spots in the cheeks of the woman he loved best," (Culhwch and Olwen).
- "We are never deceived; we deceive ourselves," (Goethe).
- "In quietness and confidence shall be your strength."
- "'Marilla,' she demanded presently, 'do you think I shall ever have a bosom friend in Avonlea?'" (Anne Shirley).
- "Here, it is different. Here, one cannot kiss the princess until one has broken the enchantment."
- "However," [Eeyore] said, brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately," (Milne).
- "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid."

Possible Spoilers/Warnings: mention of underage arranged marriage in a historical context
Summary: Listen now. I will tell you a story that is never told among the Narnian kind, for there are none remaining in Narnia who remember such things.
Author’s Notes: Thanks to [redacted] for the beta!

How Prince Col Came to Leave Narnia )

Original Prompt that we sent you: What I want: I'm interested in the parts of Narnian history we know little or nothing about-- Frank and Helen's great-grandchildren, the arrival of Caspian's ancestors, Rilian's reign (or his descendants' reigns), the origins of the other humans in the Narnian world, any gap. I'm also curious about the point of view of ordinary Narnians if the gaps in history don't work.

Original Prompt:
What I want: Anything that incorporates a Shakespeare sonnet or monologue from one of his plays (or both, both is good). Jill/Eustace, school fic, after the events of Voyage of the Dawn Treader at least.

Rating: G
Possible Spoilers/Warnings: Spoilers for the ending of Prince Caspian and for the premise of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (book continuity for both)
Summary: This isn't the way Prunaprismia ever imagined her life going.
Author's Notes: Thanks to my beta readers. All remaining errors are mine. This story didn't go where I expected it to (and it kept trying to go even further off course). I hope it's acceptable to my recipient anyway.

In Exile )

Original Prompt that we sent you: Here are some semi-specific prompts, in case any of them ping you:

1. The first post-Winter interaction between Narnia and Archenland - the Pevensies meeting Lune (and his wife!), Narnians having to relearn how to deal with the surrounding human-dominated lands, etc. Friendship or tension are both fine. (Or the first post-Winter interaction with any other country, since I am sure Narnia's sudden reappearance after a century of magical isolation -- which probably upset the climate of the surrounding lands -- must have been of interest to almost everyone.)

2. What happened in Narnia in the years around the death of the Tree of Protection? Did Jadis kill it (by magic or by proxy), or it just died of old age? How soon thereafter did she enter Narnia, and did she do so via subterfuge or via conquest? Who set up the resistance and how? (Clearly a resistance exists, along with a black market of some sort, by the time the Pevensies arrive.)

3. Caspian fighting giants before VoDT, maybe using the war to help unite Telmarine Narnia with Old Narnia. Or just tensions between Telmarine Narnia and Old Narnia during his reign. How did his marriage to the Star's Daughter help or hinder his efforts to hold his people together? How often did people try to set his cousin -- Miraz and Prunaprismia's unnamed son -- up as a figurehead king with themselves as regents? Stuff like that.

4. What led to the Telmarine invasion and conquest of Narnia? Aslan says it was a famine, but famine alone is unlikely to lead to the entirety of a settled people migrating to a new country; some must have stayed in Telmar. Was it a regional thing, or did families split down the middle? Also, was Caspian I royalty before the invasion? How quickly (and why) did the Narnian Telmarines lose contact with their home country? That entire episode is crying out for exploration.

5. Susan and Lucy going on an adventure as two sisters together. Ambushes! Captures! Daring escapes and rescues! Deceit and diplomacy! Expressions of love, faith, and trust in each other! Basically, you know those epic brotherly devotion/adventure fics? Write me one of those, but with sisters instead. Preferably in the Narnian world, but if you can find a way to play out something from that genre in England, that would be awesome too.

Prompt words/objects/quotes/whatever: "....for if you live you may yet have good fortune but all the dead are dead alike." (I can't help it; I love that quote.) Swords. Knife-fights. Epic speeches before battles. Conversations about love wherein the word itself is never spoken but the sentiment is nonetheless clearly expressed and understood by both parties. Politics. Arguments. Magic.

"Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

I don't know, I am just throwing ideas around! Hopefully something will click for you!

Possible Spoilers/Warnings/Disclaimer: More angst than author intended, spoilers for all books and a “blink and you miss it” reference to RthStewart’s universe.
Summary: Susan, the sea and all the ups and downs of a life lived twice.
Author’s Notes: I’m sorry I still couldn’t fulfill your first prompt.

Live By the Currents, Follow the Sun )

Original Prompt that we sent you:
What I want: I saw a prompt for an exchange a while back requesting a crossover where Holmes and Watson (any incarnation, though I do adore the canonical versions of the characters) find Narnia, and I would love to see that filled! If that's not your cup of tea, I adore character studies, especially ones involving Susan. Golden Age fic is always nice, too, and I'm a sucker for AUs!
Prompt words/objects/quotes/whatever: "How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?"

Rating: G
Possible Spoilers/Warnings: Set during Horse and his Boy
Summary: Hayat lives in Tashbaan and wonders about the Northerners that she is cooking for. When one of them comes to visit her, her views on her neighbors to the North change.
Author’s Notes: I read the prompt and thought of conversations that happen in kitchens and this was the story that resulted from it. The food in this fic was inspired by my own experience with Moroccan cooking, it made me hungry as I wrote it. The first proverb is Berber and the second is Arabic. The heavy use of proverbs in The Horse and his Boy sent me out looking for appropriate ones.

Fragile Layers )

Original Prompt that we sent you: What I want: Let's talk about Calormen! Alternatively: one or more of the Pevensies attempts to explain Narnian theology to an outsider. Predictably, it doesn't go overly well. Feel free to be as creative as you like with the prompt.
Prompt words/objects/quotes/whatever: "No mortal power may stay her spinning wheel./The nations rise and fall by her decree./None may foresee where she will set her heel:/she passes, and things pass." -Dante's Inferno Canto VII 82-85; politics; religion.
