This story hit the spot at so many points! :) Jill and Puddleglum, two of my favourite characters, and the whole Silver Chair adventure, for a start. :) And then how beautifully you convey Jill's fears and reluctance, with all the wonderful details of the grey, muddy world she's in, with such lovely words: "the squelch in her shoes and the dampening, muddling sound of the rain all around". And then her gradual growth in confidence and skill and ability to deal with Puddleglum's glooms; I liked the gradual construction of a friendship between Jill and Eustace, too, and Jill's observation that "facts can be a story, too". :)
And I very much liked how this story used so many elements, like the closing line (great line!) and how the learning of the stars foreshadows the need for that knowledge in The Last Battle to tie the two halves of Jill's story together as one whole. Thanks for this story!
