Whitham had been the only one who spoke decent French and Peter had been picking the man’s brains out of his hair since the crash.

This will never not make me do a spit take.

American soldiers had access to condoms for several reasons and not solely because their Command wanted to prevent disease in the ranks when soldiers found girls willing to trade sex for chocolate and stockings.

Reminds me of all my grandmother has told me about the reputations The Girls Who Wore Stockings had during the war, and how she wanted stockings and an American or British boyfriend until she saw many of the stockinged girls with new babies as well… guess the soldiers didn’t worry so much about using condoms with German girls.

Bacchus’ humor amuses me- snogging Peter, waking him up in an uncomfortable way- and it’s an interesting facet of Narnian existence; the gods are there, clearly, and it’s not really a matter of believing in them or not when one’s laying a big wet kiss on you. But there’s a healthy respect there, for the roles Aslan has given each of them.

Susan is such a badass, always. ♥ ♥

I love the way you explore the parallels between Narnia and this world, and how there is much richness here as there is there. I love all the details you include, incorporating background descriptions into the narrative to make a truly rich and absorbing setting for this story- the gramophone, the scent of the wine, the coolness of the cave, the yellow soap, the threadbare trousers. And oh my god I want cheese.
