I like the way Aravis changes which name she uses to refer to Cor/Shasta, depending on who else is around and what she's trying to convey. I also really like her little touches of culture shock -- the dresses, the butter, the different styles of courtesy. I think it is very believable that Shasta would have a difficult time talking about Arsheesh and his past, particularly since his new life is such a wild disconnect with his childhood, whereas Aravis, who is still a noblewoman (and treated as such) though she now lives in a different country, is comfortable moving from past to present, as when she thinks about her tutors, moves to thinking about Cor's tutor, and finishes by wondering if she can get someone to teach her northern courtesies.
On a related note, I also really like that Aravis notices things about Cor, and that her first reaction is to pull him into her room and hope they're not in trouble, rather than to shut him out and let him deal with any potential mess on his own. They do work well together. :-)
