Last call for tagset nominations! You can nominate HERE.
Character & Relationship Tags
This year, requesting "Any" in the character fields will not be allowed. This is to avoid mismatches (ex. so that someone who offered Peter and Caspian will not be assigned to someone who wants stories about 'any' female character). In order to provide more flexibility, I've added some general tags to the list (see below). If you really want ANY character, then request the "Any Female Character", "Any Male Character", "Any Non-Human Character", and "Named Characters Who Appeared Entirely 'Offscreen'". But please don't request these and then be like, "I really only want a fic about Tirian's dad!" or something else super specific.
— Any Female Character: if you request this, you should be open to receiving fic about any female character in the Narnia books; not just the female characters in the tagset
— Any Male Character: same as above, but with men
— Any Non-Human Character: same as above, but about animal or creature characters
— Named Characters Who Appeared Entirely 'Offscreen'
— Original Female Character(s)
— Original Male Character(s)
— Original Non-binary Character
— Minor Characters
Below is a glossary of the freeform tags for this year's exchange. Please remember that you don't need to use them! Whether or not you use the tags, you should use the text boxes in the sign-up form to explain what you’re looking for.
Narnian World Time Periods
While the periods are defined by what happened in the country of Narnia, requests for these tags can be for anywhere in that world at that time. These were taken from the Narnia wiki.
— Age of Conquest: Birth of Narnia through right before White Witch seizes power
— Age of Winter: White Witch’s reign
— Golden Age: Pevensies’ reign
— Dark Age: Narnia in anarchy
— Friends of Narnia: for if you want something about the group or if you don't care which character within the group is the star
— Telmarine Age: Telmarine conquest through right before Caspian X’s coronation
— Age of Exploration: Caspian X’s reign
— Later Ages: Rilian’s reign onwards
— Post-Canon: set in Aslan’s afterlife country (or on Earth, if you also select Setting:Earth)
Places
You can use these tags in conjunction with the Time Period tags if, for example, you want a story about Archenland during the Long Winter. Or you can use them alone if you want anything about these places, set at any time.
— Archenland, Calormen, Charn, Telmar, Bism & Underground Realms, Ettinsmoor & Other Northern Lands: stories set in these countries, at any time
— Aslan’s Country: could be about things like Jill at the beginning of Silver Chair, or a post-Last Battle story
— Eastern Sea: for stories about the territory explored in Voyage of the Dawn Treader and the creatures, concepts and people found there
— Setting: Earth: stories set anywhere and at any time in our world
— Wood Between the Worlds: stories that use or explore this place
— The Heavens/Realm of the Stars: stories that use or explore the star characters and the place where they dwell/dance
Genres
— Alternate Universe - Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies: For stories that ignore large swaths of The Last Battle. Unlike the other tags in this group, this one encompasses a non-canonical Narnian time period after “Later Ages” as well as stories set in our world in which the Friends of Narnia didn't die.
— Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence: For all canon divergences other than the ones encompassed by “Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies”
— Alternate Universe - Modern Setting: Characters have always existed in a world contemporary to our time
— Alternate Universe - Different Setting: Characters have always existed in a scenario not covered by the ones above (various historical eras, various professions, etc.)
— Alternate Universe - People In England Find Out: defined as you wish
— Backstory: Could be for a character or concept, to be explained in the details/prompt
— Narnians in Our World: stories about native-born Narnians coming to our world
Canonical Concepts & Worldbuilding Elements
— Backstory, Deep Magic, Deities, Dwarf Culture, Narnian History, Narnian Lore: self-explanatory
— Dimension Travel: stories that send characters on world-hopping adventures not covered by the books; also stories that explore concepts related to inter-dimensional travel (ex. the Wood, the rings)
— Mythical Beings & Creatures: about any of the beings mentioned in the books (or not mentioned)
— Narnian Subcultures: about the various creatures who live in Narnia (ex. fauns, marsh-wiggles, dryads, etc.) and/or the interspecies politics and cultural issues— The Problem of Susan: defined as you wish
— Mythology & Folklore, Politics, Talking Animals, The Problem of Susan, Spells & Enchantments, Centaurs' Long Lives: defined as you wish
— Time Shenanigans: exploring the time lapse/aging issues associated with dimension travel
— Worldbuilding: Open-ended, to cover places, eras, concepts, little-known characters, etc. not covered by other tags
— Atlantis: in ways relevant to Narnia (ie., exploring how the dust for the rings was gotten)
