The Narnia Fic Exchange is an annual anonymous fic exchange, similar to Secret Santas and other fanwork gift exchanges.

Participants submit a request, with prompt ideas such as characters, situations, and themes. The mods match these requests with another participant, who then writes the requested fic. All participants receive a fic based on their request/prompt. The authors are anonymous until all the stories have been posted.

Please read this thoroughly before signing up for the exchange.

Important dates:
Signups open: June 9
Signups close: June 19
Prompts sent out: by June 24
Fics due: anytime before August 19
Posting begins: August 26

Most important:

1) You must submit a story of 1000 words by the deadline. If you need an extension, you must contact us before the deadline to arrange this. If the deadline passes and we do not have your fic, it will be assigned to a pinch-hitter.

2) You must use a beta. Repeat: YOU MUST USE A BETA. Repeat one more time: YOU MUST USE A BETA. If you do not have a beta, check our beta post. If you turn in an unbetaed story, it will be returned to you for corrections. If you do not return the story with corrections, your assignment will got to a pinch-hitter.

3) If you need to drop out (which, no problem, life happens and we totally understand this, having dropped out of exchanges/challenges ourselves!), YOU MUST CONTACT US TO LET US KNOW. There are many ways to contact us: via email, via PM, or via comment on an admin post in the comm. If you drop out without contacting us, you may be banned from future fic exchanges. We have been burned too many times and had to scramble to find pinch-hitters to want to give unlimited chances. There is no penalty for dropping out, as long as you let us know.

4) Your fic must be formatted to post on Livejournal. You will find information on how to do this here.

Summary: You must submit a beta-read story of 1000 words by the deadline. If you need an extension, you must contact us to arrange this. If you need to drop out, you must contact us to let us know, or else you may be banned from future exchanges. You must format your fic correctly for posting on LJ; if you need help with this, let us know.

Please, please, please sign up for pinch-hitting* here. Last year there were a few fics that needed pinch-hitting, and it'll probably happen this round too.

Same rules apply as when signing up for beta duty. You don't have to be a member/participant in the exchange to be a pinch-hitter, just someone who can turn around a thousand word fic in a short time frame.

*Pinch-hitting is what happens when a writer drops out of the exchange for some reason and someone steps up to write the abandoned request. That someone is the pinch-hitter.

This post will be screened and you'll only be contacted, if needed, by the mods.

The signups for the Narnia Fic Exchange 2013 are finally open! Fill out the form below and that's all you have to do.

Signups close June 19th. You will receive your prompt by June 24th. Then you'll have until August 19th to work on your fic, and send it in. That's 8 weeks and should be plenty of time for you all to finish your stories. We hope. ;)

ETA: Evidently Livejournal has been marking a lot of comments as spam. If this happens to you when you sign up, don't worry. I still get notified, and I am also checking for any spam comments that might slip by.

If this is your first time signing up for the NFE, and you have any questions or concerns about it, please feel free to ask them here. And people who have participated in the past, feel free to help out and answer.

One specific thing I wanted to note: You do not need to have a Livejournal in order to participate in the NFE. You can sign up via an anonymous comment, and as long as you have an email address we can reach you at, that's all you need. A Livejournal account is helpful, but not mandatory, for participating in the NFE - the mods will do all the posting, and anonymous comments are always enabled. We just ask that you identify yourself in any comment you leave, so we'll know who it is from.

So any questions you have about prompts, requests, what you do not want to receive, what you do not want to write, and anything else you can think of, go ahead and ask away!
