2011 Narnia Fic Exchange
May. 21st, 2011 02:52 pm
Hi, everyone! I'm
Signups for the 2011 Narnia Fic Exchange are coming up fast! Last year we had the biggest turnout ever, and ended up with a collection of really great fic, so we have great expectations for this year!
We've got a few changes this time around, the biggest one being a shorter writing time. This year there will be just over a month to write a thousand word fic. We're also dropping the contest aspect this year. We're keeping both anonymous aspects - you won't know who you're writing for, and when the fic is posted, the recipient won't know who wrote for them, until reveal day. We're also keeping the tradition of posting a fic each day, because nothing makes a day better than new fic! :)
Here are the dates you need to know:
Schedule
June 10th - signups open
June 20th - signups close
June 27th - assignments go out
July 30th - assignments due
August 7th/8th - fic posting begins!
When signups open, we'll be making a post with the complete rules, but if you want to take a look at last year's, they are pretty much the same.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in comments, or email to narniaficexchange@gmail.com. And don't forget to pimp this out to all your friends and Narnia-related communities! The more people who sign up, the more great stories we have!

Date: 2011-05-22 01:58 am (UTC)I have a suggestion for this year's exchange, especially if it is a nice big one again (!!!). I think last time people drifted off during the long posting phase, and didn't really stick around for the post-reveal events. I would suggest this time that you set a time frame for the posting, and if you have more stories than days you post 2 (or more) fics some days. For instance if there are 20 days and 30 fics you could alternate 1-fic days and 2-fic days.

Date: 2011-06-06 01:34 am (UTC)How it works: you sign up and tell us things you want in a fic (specific characters or ships, specific settings or themes, etc) and prompts (can be specific words, quotes, etc.) You also tell us things you specifically don't want in your fic (for example, Caspian/Susan romance) and things you absolutely can't write (incest, rape, etc). Then the mods match you up with another participant. This is all done anonymously - you won't know who you're writing for, just what they've requested. And you won't know who is writing for you, until the end of the exchange when all the writers are revealed.
The voting was something we tried last year, and we're not planning on repeating it this year, but other than that, pretty much everything is the same.
And anyone who is willing to write a story is welcome to participate! :)
I hope that helped! Let me know if you any more questions.
